Dr. Charles A. Gillespie Memorial Park
110 West Main Street
Background
Dr. Charles Gillespie Park was developed by Community Strategies Group (CSG) with a Parks And Greenways grant from Pennsylvania DCED, and private contributions from local partners like its namesake, Dr. Charles Gillespie. “I love this town. The people in it its history, and the town’s potential for the future,” said Dr. Gillespie. “In Bloomsburg, one unique person can make a positive difference.”
“Gillespie Park was born out of community conversations that began more than 15 years ago regarding Downtown Bloomsburg and opportunities to add vibrancy and activity,” said Rich Kisner, Community Strategies Group Executive Director. “Right off the bat it creates a place for community groups like Downtown Bloomsburg Inc. to deliver a variety of seasonal activities for the community. As we continue to add elements to the park, it will become a place for neighbors to meet, artists to find inspiration, and for all of us to enjoy a beautiful downtown atmosphere. It’s another step toward building a more connected and welcoming Bloomsburg.”
